UPDATE: DoD announced that SGM James Sartor was killed on July 13, 2019 in Faryab province, Afghanistan.
Resolute Support Headquarters has reported that a U.S. service member has died in Afghanistan on Saturday, July 13, 2019.
This is the 12th U.S. military death this year. Nine of these died in combat and two in non-combat related incidents. At least half of these casualties were members of special operations units.
In accordance with DoD policy the name of the service member will not be released until 24 hours after notification of the next of kin.
