
The Center on Irregular Warfare and Armed Groups (CIWAG) of the Naval War College is presenting its annual CIWAG Maritime Symposium on June 23-25, 2025 in Rhode Island. This two-day event, entitled “Shadows & Sabotage”, provides presentations, workshops, and panel discussions on a host of topics relating to Irregular Warfare in the maritime environment.
A number of experts from several academic institutions and research organizations will be in attendance providing their insight during the symposium. These include participants from the Center for Naval Analysis (CNA), Atlantic Council, Norwegian Navy, CSIS, Geneva Platform, U.S. Naval War College, Naval Special Warfare, U.S. Coast Guard, and more. The symposium will examine the increasing use of “Shadow Fleet” vessels to evade sanctions, transport illicit goods, and conduct covert maritime activities.
