Fallen Green Beret Honored. On August 23, 2016 Staff Sergeant Matthew Thompson of the 1st Special Forces Group died of wounds suffered from an improvised explosive device while on a foot patrol in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was recently recognized during a ceremony at the Veterans Resource Center at Concordia University Irvine in California. (DVIDS, Nov 14, 2017).
Four Soldiers Wounded. For U.S. service members sustained injuries in a suicide car bomb attack in Kandahar province, Afghanistan on Monday afternoon (Nov 13th). All are reported to have been in stable condition in a U.S. medical treatment facility. (Khaama Press, Nov 14, 2017).
