SOF News Update 20160105 – History Channel Asia special on Asia’s special forces, passing SOF selection, South Korean hit squad, SOCEUR SEALs train with Serbs, rescuing SOF operators off the African continent, and more.
Asia’s Special Forces. The History Channel is airing a program named “Asia’s Special Forces With Terry Schappert” History Asia has run two seasons where it presents the programs about the world’s toughest military units. Schappert, a former Green Beret, is a 23-year veteran of U.S. Special Forces. It is now airing the best of the two seasons in a 4-part special starting January 22nd and running to January 30th.
Navy SEAL Playing College Ball. Lots of SOF guys think about leaving the service and playing college football. Most don’t. (I was one of the lucky ones, left 7th SFGA, played ball for one season, then back on active duty). SEALs Training Serbs. Members of the Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR) conducted a Joint Combined Exchange Training (JCET) with the Serbian Special Anti-Terrorist Unit (SAJ) in the later part of 2016. Rescue of SOF Operator from Libya. In 2016, a mission took place that attracted very little attention – well, none at all. It was the medical evacuation of a SOF operator with an eye injury. Africa is a big place with hardly any U.S. medical facilities.
