The Department of Defense has published its updated DoD Instruction 3000.7 Irregular Warfare dated September 29, 2025. This document recommends priorities for Irregular Warfare (IW) policy, plans, analysis, capabilities and strategies to the Secretary of Defense (SecDef).
In addition, the IW instruction establishes policies on the IW requirements for collaboration with other military and non-military partners. It integrates DoD guidance on IW into strategic documents to ensure DoD IW efforts align with other U.S. government department and agency IW efforts.
