Noori Documentary to Highlight Afghan SOF Experience at SOF Week 2026

Noori Documentary

SOF Week 2026, to be held May 18-21, 2026, in Tampa, Florida has a multitude of interesting activities for attendees – ranging from presentations by SOF leaders from the United States and around the world, over 850 exhibitors displaying their capabilities, technologies, and services, as well as numerous demonstrations of the latest equipment used in the SOF community.

One very important event is the introduction of the Noori documentary. This soon-to-be-released film follows the lives of Afghan special operators now living in the United States.

Afghan and U.S. special operators fought shoulder-to-shoulder for two decades during the conflict in Afghanistan, forging enduring relationships built through combat operations, shared sacrifice, and long-term partnership.

Many members of the Afghan SOF units have managed to escape Afghanistan – either during the Kabul non-combatant evacuation operation (NEO) during August 2021 after the fall of the Afghan government or in the several years after.

Following the collapse of the Afghan government in August 2021, thousands of former Afghan commandos and special operators faced Taliban reprisals, displacement, and uncertain futures. Numerous nonprofit organizations, veterans groups, and advocacy networks have since worked to assist Afghan SOF personnel with evacuation, resettlement, employment, and community integration in the United States and allied nations.

On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, the Global SOF Foundation and Onebrief will host an evening in support of Honor the Promise – a nonprofit uplifting the Afghan Army Special Operations community in the United States. The evening program will celebrate the enduring bond between Afghans and Americans forged over two decades on the battlefield.

The program includes a 25-minute preview from the Noori documentary. This film provides a look at how former Afghan SOF members are transitioning to new lives in the United States. The film follows Khalid Noori, an Afghan special operations soldier, who left Afghanistan in August 2021.

The Tuesday evening program will include opening remarks, a 25-minute documentary preview, and a question and answer period with film director Will Agee from Dulcinea Productions, some cast members, and the leadership of Honor the Promise. The program will conclude with an hour-long networking reception.

The documentary and accompanying discussion are expected to resonate strongly with many members of the SOF community who served alongside Afghan commandos during two decades of conflict.
